Your Stay

18+ Adults Only

Every registered guest at Merlot House must be 18 or older. Children and infants are not permitted to stay or use the Backyard Spa.

Check-in is from 3:00 PM. Check-out is by 11:00 AM.

Smoke-Free Property

Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on the Merlot House property.

Registered Guests Only

Quiet Hours — 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM

During quiet hours, guests must keep noise at a level that does not disturb other Merlot House guests or neighbours. Outdoor music, the outdoor TV when set up, and other amplified sound must be off by 11:00 PM.

Backyard Spa

Backyard Spa Hours — 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM

The Backyard Spa closes at 11:00 PM when quiet hours begin.

Year-Round Operation

The Backyard Spa operates year-round, including winter. Individual amenities may occasionally be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, weather, safety requirements or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Sharing the Backyard Spa

The Backyard Spa is a shared guest amenity available on a first-come, first-served basis during operating hours. Please be considerate of other Merlot House guests.

Sauna — one-hour courtesy limit during busy periods
Hot tub — one-hour courtesy limit during busy periods
Cold plunges do not require a specific time limit

Before You Soak or Plunge

Please shower before using the hot tub or cold plunges, particularly after using the sauna. This helps us maintain clean, balanced water for everyone.

Hot Tub & Cold Plunge Covers

When you're finished, please replace the hot tub and cold-plunge covers so the amenities stay clean, protected and ready for the next guests. Please do not add soap, oils, bath products or other substances to the hot tub or cold plunges.

Sauna

A few simple courtesies keep the sauna great for everyone.

Sit on a towel while using the sauna
No food or glass inside
Do not use personal products inside the sauna
Do not hang towels or clothing on or near the heater
Only add water to the sauna rocks if permitted by the posted sauna instructions

Food & Drinks

Drinks are welcome in the Backyard Spa using non-breakable drinkware — glass is not permitted anywhere in the Backyard Spa. Food may be enjoyed in the outdoor seating and fire-pit areas, but not inside the sauna, hot tub or cold plunges.

Towels & Personal Items

Please bring the towels provided in your suite with you to the Backyard Spa. After use, return all towels to your suite. Please do not leave towels, clothing or personal belongings in the Backyard Spa — Merlot House is not responsible for items left behind in shared outdoor areas.

Winter Spa Use

Please use appropriate non-slip footwear when moving between your suite and the Backyard Spa amenities. During winter, outdoor surfaces may be wet, snow-covered, icy or slippery — please take extra care when moving between the sauna, hot tub and cold plunges, and do not run between amenities.

Fire Pit

Enjoying the Fire

Enjoy the fire, but never leave it unattended. Only use the wood and kindling provided by Merlot House.

Do not move the fire pit

Putting Out the Fire

When finished, completely extinguish the fire using the bucket and water located beside the BBQ. Make sure the fire is fully extinguished before leaving the Backyard Spa area. Fire-pit use remains subject to applicable City of Calgary fire restrictions or bans.

Outdoor TV

Outdoor TV — Available by Request

Our 70" outdoor TV can be set up in the Backyard Spa by request and is typically reserved for special viewing occasions such as hockey games. The TV is not permanently installed in the Backyard Spa, so please request it in advance if you'd like it available during your stay. When the TV is set up, volume must remain considerate of guests and neighbours, and the TV must be turned off by 11:00 PM.

Backyard Spa Rules

The Backyard Spa is a shared space. These rules help keep it clean, comfortable and enjoyable for everyone.

Registered adult guests only: The Backyard Spa is reserved for registered adult guests of Merlot House. Children, infants, unauthorized visitors and unregistered guests are not permitted.
Spa hours: The Backyard Spa is open daily from 8:00 AM until 11:00 PM. Please respect quiet hours from 11:00 PM until 8:00 AM.
Shared access: The spa is shared and available first-come, first-served. During busy periods, please limit sauna and hot-tub use to approximately one hour when other guests are waiting.
Shower before entering: Please shower before using the hot tub, sauna or cold plunges. Do not use oils, lotions or other products that could affect the water.
No glass: Glass is never permitted in the Backyard Spa. Please use non-breakable drinkware only; provided drinkware is not yet confirmed.
Use amenities responsibly: Enter the cold plunges gradually, use handrails where provided and never dive or jump into the water. Do not pour liquids or substances onto the sauna heater unless the posted sauna instructions expressly permit it.
Do not use while impaired: For your safety, do not use the hot tub, sauna, cold plunges or fire-pit area while impaired by alcohol, cannabis, medication or any other substance.
No smoking or vaping: Smoking and vaping are prohibited throughout the property and Backyard Spa.
Keep noise low: Please speak quietly, avoid amplified music and respect neighbouring guests and nearby residents.
Replace covers and leave the area tidy: Replace hot-tub and cold-plunge covers after use and leave the area tidy. Bring towels from your suite and return them there after use; a used-towel hamper is not yet confirmed.
Fire-pit safety: Use the fire-pit area responsibly and follow all posted instructions. The fire pit may be unavailable because of weather, maintenance or local fire restrictions.
Temporary closures: Individual amenities may close without notice because of weather, maintenance, water quality or safety concerns. Guest safety takes priority.

Booking, payment, cancellation, damage-deposit and refund terms may vary by accommodation, travel dates, length of stay, rate plan and booking channel.
